Danflix is a live channel, not an on-demand library: whatever's scheduled right now is what plays, the same as turning on a TV. The home page shows it at the top, under On now, with a live preview, how far through it is and what comes next. The preview starts muted; use the speaker button on it to listen in before you commit.
Below that, Later today runs through the rest of today's programming blocks and In rotation this week shows the series currently airing. Press Tune in to open the full-screen player.
The player fills the screen. The show's title sits bottom left, and the Up next row along the bottom shows the next few hours. After a few seconds without moving the mouse, the title and top bar fade and the schedule tucks into the bottom edge, leaving a small "Up next" tab. Move the mouse over the picture to bring the top bar back. To bring the schedule back, click the tab, rest the mouse on the bottom edge, press ↑ or swipe up. The pin button in the schedule keeps it open for good.
The buttons in the top bar, left to right:
In the player, when you're not typing in the chat or a search box:
| Space | Play or pause |
| M | Mute or unmute |
| F | Full screen |
| C | Open or close the chat |
| G | Open or close the guide |
| ↑ / ↓ | Bring back or tuck away the Up next row |
| Esc | Close the open panel, or tuck the schedule away |
| Enter | Send a chat message (in the chat box) |
The Guide page shows a day at a time: pick the day from the tabs at the top, and each programming block gets a row of what airs in it, in order. Whatever is on now is marked On now; click it to start watching.
While you're watching, the guide button in the player opens the same schedule over the bottom of the screen, with a search box for the whole week.
What's on lays out the whole week. On a computer it's a grid with a column per day; on a phone, pick a day from the row of dates and scroll its list. Move between weeks with Prev week and Next week, or press Today to come back.
Narrow it down with the Movies, TV and Anime filters or the title search, change the row height with Compact, Normal and Roomy, and press Jump to now to scroll to the current time.
Every channel has a live chat next to the stream. Anyone can read it; you need to be signed in to post.
- Press the chat button in the player's top bar (or C). The chat opens beside the picture; on a phone it takes the bottom half of the screen.
- Type in the box at the bottom and press Enter or Send. The ☺ button opens the emotes.
The top of the chat shows how many people are watching, and the Who's watching button lists them. On a computer, Danflix remembers whether you had the chat open and opens it again next time. Moving around the chat won't bring up the title and schedule over the picture.
You don't need an account to watch. Signing in lets you chat, set reminders, send requests and watch an outside stream with everyone. Press the account button at the top right and choose Log in. One account works across the whole site.
Press the star on a show in the player's Up next row, in the player's guide or on the What's on page, and your browser will notify you when it starts.
A star on a single airing reminds you about that showing. For a series you'll also be offered every episode, so new airings get reminders without starring each one.
See and manage everything you've starred from the bell at the top of the page, or My reminders in the account menu.
From your reminders you can copy a personal calendar link and add it to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or any app that subscribes to calendar links. It updates itself as you add and remove reminders.
Want something on the schedule? Press Requests in the menu at the top, type a title and send it. If someone has already asked for it, vote for theirs instead; the most wanted titles rise to the top.
Signed in, open the chat and press Embed at the top of it to play a Twitch, YouTube or Kick stream in the player instead of the Danflix channel. Choose the platform, enter the channel name (for YouTube, the video ID from its link) and press Watch. The top bar says what you're watching.
The row of pills at the top of the chat shows every stream people are watching, how many are on each, and Danflix itself. Press one to switch, or the Danflix pill to come back. The Danflix chat carries on the whole time, so switching never means leaving the room.
Danflix can be installed like a regular app: on mobile, use your browser's "Add to Home Screen" option; on desktop, look for an install icon in the address bar. It'll open in its own window without any browser chrome around it, but it's still the same live site underneath.
